Green Ride Program Spring 2024 - Road

About this event

Focus on developing your fitness and riding skills while training to complete a 40 mile group ride after 6 weeks of training. You will learn how to ride safe & confidently on the road in a group as well as basics like when to shift, how to best ride in hilly conditions, flat tire repair, simple bike maintenance and more individual riding and safety skills.

Although it requires commitment, you'll be training in a supportive & relaxed group environment with experienced leaders. To start, RiDErs must be able to ride and control their bike and maintain a minimum average pace of 10 mph for a one hour ride on rolling terrain.

We will require a screenshot or link to a recent (this year) ride of at least 10 miles from Strava, Garmin, MapmyRide, etc. so we can verify the speed, distance and overall time. After registration, please email your ride to barbara.w@cyclingkc.org. We'll send you a reminder after you register.

Road or hybrid bike and helmet are required. See FAQ for more information.

You must be coachable and ready to have fun! The Green RiDE group will progress from rides of 10 miles to 40 miles over the course of the program. Whether you’re just getting started cycling or experienced, if your interest is recreational riding, developing fitness or just having fun socializing in group rides the Green RiDE is for you.
