Wintery Mix #2 - a wrap for 2012 CX

Thanks Brian!

Thank you to Kyle as well for the loaning me the wheel. It's nice to be on a team.

I noticed Kyle carried his bike every time through the ditch...now I know why - pfffffff, pinch flat!

It was a nice vibe out there. They were accepting of newbies and all of our foibles (missing bar ends, pre-riding course while previous race was still going on, riding an extra lap at the end, etc...).

Good times!
It was a power course. What can I say?

Nice write-up, Brian! I'm glad you got to finish, Alan.
Nice job. Way to represent and close the season out. I have no idea how you turned those pedals Kyle.
Last Sunday brought a close to the local cyclocross season with "Wintery Mix 2." The race was held at Mission Farms. KCBC supported nearly all the local cyclocross venues this year, and Wintery Mix was no exception.
Race conditions were extremely tough. A good rain Saturday night created soft ground, and riders had to generate huge amounts of power to get around the course. Furthermore, the wind gusted up to 40 MPH. The wind and mud were a wicked combination.
Two of our members suited up and raced. Kyle Guinn competed in the Cat 3 race. Hats off to Kyle. We pounded out 50+ miles of tough hills on Saturday, leaving many of the team weak in the legs. Kyle appeared unaffected by the previous days outing, putting in an outstanding effort Sunday.

Alan Thomas made his first foray into the local Cross scene. He flatted in the first lap, but made his way to the pit.  he was able borrow a wheel from Kyle and after a little wrenching was back on the course.   He made up lost ground and pedaled through some of the toughest conditions we've seen this season. Alan showed determination and persistence Sunday. Well Done!

Its sad to see the 2012 season draw to a close. Only time will tell what the 2013 season holds in store for the team. Rumor has it some very exciting things are on the horizon for KCBC Cyclocross.
