Perry Road Race #2
Author Last Post
The Perry Circuit race was challenging yesterday. Howling 25mph winds from the northwest with
gusts of 32mph, wind chill of 23, slight mist. Perry hill was not the only challenging part of the course this weekend.

Kyle Guinn raced Cat 4, below is his summary of the race.

The Cat. 4 race got shortened to 4 laps. I've seen what the wind at
the spillway structure can do to a peloton, and I wanted no part of
that. On the first lap everyone was squeezed over to the right, the
wrong place to be, so I went to the front and far left so nobody would
blow into me. Then I pulled for the rest of the lap. I made a few
getaway attempts but mostly just set the tone for the rest of the
race.
The KOM was on the 2nd lap and that split off the back half of the
group, including me. Gut check time. I joined up with Danimal's KBAR
rival and chased for over half a lap until he dropped. Meanwhile in
the peloton they smelled weakness in last week's winner, so they put
the hurt on and shot him out the back. I caught him on the 3rd time
up the hill and we chased for the final lap, but at this point it was
7 vs. 2 and the 7 were determined to keep it that way. Solid 9th
place finish.

Brian raced cat 5.

I spent half my warmup time fussing with clothing choices. Finally remembered from cross season not to overdress. We rolled out a much smaller field compared to last weekend. A few of the usual suspects were in the mix. I lost the KOM in the last 50 yards, but gave it an earnest attempt. The last lap was pretty exciting. Some guys and I took off. It just kind of happens, one guy stands up and hammers, you have to decide quickly weather your going or sitting in. I went for it. We dropped the field and made our way to the final climb.
