Century Rides
Author Last Post
Mike, I know you've signed up already, but others may not know of the NEW Rock Island Ramble Century planned for June 22nd.

We're planning a 7:30am start and 5:00pm closure, which is 9.5 hours, but there is nothing stopping you from starting at 7:00am (except that you might get to some SAG Stops before they're quite open!).

It is part of the Tour of KC: http://TourOfKC.com
Mike,
As you are probably aware, the Cider Mill Century and the Summer Breeze Century have 9 hour cut-off times (7-4pm) Those cut-offs are for the sake of planning volunteers to work the SAG stops and the finish area meal. You can always start earlier than 7am or choose to continue the rides beyond the SAG stop closing times, but you will be responsible for your own support.

Another ride in the area in late August is the Gorilla Century in Pittsburg, KS on 8/31. I do not know what the SAG closure times are, but I don't believe there is a meal at the end, so at least the finish is open ended. The Gorilla Century is also relatively flat as SE Kansas has very few hills and nothing like we have up here.

My riding buddies and I are looking for a century ride in July, August, or September, that has more than an eight hour window, preferably one of ten hours or more. We are older riders that are planning on riding the length of the Katy Trail in October and need to incorporate longer rides! We do NOT want to do a century on a crushed limestone trail!

We would travel to any neighboring state.

Any suggestions would be helpful and welcomed.

Thanks, in advance, for any information,

Mike DeGhelder
